As speculations build on who takes over the presidency of the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo world wide following the death of Iwuayanwu, many have suggested that the Igbo speaking part of South-south region be allowed to produce the next president of the apex social cultural group of the Ndi Igbo.
Former governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi has emerged a strong candidate for the position; however, his ascension to the position of the president of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo is being resisted by many who argue that the past actions of the former governor of Rivers was inimical to the Ndi Igbos.
An Igbo lady on X (Twitter), Ifeanyi Akorjuru argues that Rotimi Amaechi should not be allowed to lead the Ndi Igbo. She argues that Rotimi Amaechi had in the past denied his Igbo origin as well as neglected Ndi Igbo when he served as the minister of transportation under Buhari administration. According to her, Rotimi Amaechi who had denied his Igbo origin will betray Ndi Igbo if he emerges the president of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo world wide.
She wrote: “Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is not qualified to be president of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide.A man who has consistently denied his Igbo heritage will definitely be a sellout and chameleon cannot be trusted.
“Chibuike Amaechi was transport Minister under Buhari administration and did all kinds of construction work in the North and Southwest including Railway tracks but he did absolutely nothing in the Southeast and South South.
“In fact Amaechi built a railway track up to Niger Republic and did nothing for Ndigbo.
“The transport university originally approved to be constructed in Imo state was moved to Kastina state ( Buhari state) under his watchful eye
“Chibuike Amaechi should tell Ndigbo world wide what qualifies him to be president general of Ohaneze Ndigbo Igbos don’t need a saboteur as the Ohaneze president”.
