Former member of the Nigeria’s senate and erstwhile activist for good governance, Shehu Sani argues that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not to be blamed for the problems facing the northern region of Nigeria’s federation.

The former senator through his X handle, stated that the northern Nigeria is currently plagued with numerous issues ranging from insecurity,  endemic poverty and destitution, illiteracy, chronic underdevelopment, abject neglect, religious extremism and terrorism which the president of the nation should not be blamed for.

“Northern leaders must take lessons from the recent violent uprising in the region. The President must be held to account, but he is not the Problem or the Solution to the Problem”, his tweet read in part

He warned that the use of force can not suppress those outlined vices but a collective implementable master plan from states governors, politicians, religious and traditional leaders and intellectuals in the region.  According to him, leaders in the northern region must learn lesson from the ongoing remonstration in some northern states rather that blaming the central government led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The Governors, political,Business, religious, traditional leaders and the intellectuals of the region must converge and urgently come out with an implementable master plan to tackle the decades of endemic poverty and destitution,Illiteracy, chronic underdevelopment, abject neglect, religious extremism and terrorism that has demonised the region and impoverished its people”.

“Guns and tanks can suppress the flame but not extinguish the fire. The monster in our homes was not created in a day.The North should look at the mirror and not the telescope. We have the cattle to build our wealth,we shouldn’t be looking for a scapegoat”.
