Why Peter Obi is dangerous for the Igbos by Elochukwu Ohagi

Mary Chioma

People like Peter Obi are dangerous to their people. Do you know why? People like him feel that the only way to prove that they are good is by displeasing his people and pleasing outsiders.

This was why Peter Obi hypocritically, in his birthday message to Gowon, extolled the former head of state in words far from his attributes. Aside that, Peter Obi by his words, endorsed and supported Gowon’s war crime against the Ndi Igbo during the Biafra war. Obi did this against the 3.5 millions Igbos killed during the Biafra war.

For him, the kị́lling of more than 3.5 million Igbo people by Gowon in 1967 was commendable and veritable means of ensuring peace and oneness of Nigeria– in fact, it was for Peter Obi  a way Yakubu Gowon demonstrated love. It was according to Peter Obi “standing tall in the moment of strife and giving Nigeria love”.

It’s also absurd that Peter Obi would also appeal to Ndi Igbo to forgive a man who never asked for forgiveness nor felt remorseful over the wanton killing of defenceless and helpless women and children in his questionable bid to ensure the unity of Nigeria at the expense of marginalized Igbos who till date still suffer even more marginalization than they experienced before the civil war.

Peter Obi urged the Ndi Igbo who still suffer from the un-healed wound from the civil war to forgive a man who vaingloriously boasted about how he would repeat what he did to the Igbos during the Biafra war should there be reoccurrence of Biafra war.

This is not forgiveness. It is foolishness. This is trying to put your people under the bus just to hypocritically win the love of those by their nature, loath you.

Peter Obi is not the man. Peter Obi will see doing something for his people as an injustice. The mindset of people like Obi is d@ngerous to his people.

No explanation from Obi will make this go away. The only thing that will make this go away is APOLOGY TO NDỊ́ IGBO. A man who is so much in love with his stomach, trades his head for a morsel of bread. Peter Obi has become obsessed with his sought to occupy the seat of the Nigeria’s president that he believes that he will need to demean his people, particularly his father’s who fought and perished for the Biafra course.  Obi forgot that one who betrays his brother will not also be trusted by those he betrayed his brother for.

By his action, Obi spat on the graves of those children who suffered genocide and died in their millions. He watered down the efforts of those men and women who fought without boots and clothes to keep us from extinction from the wicked and evil Gowon.

Gowon should be in prison.

Gowon should be despised by generations to come.

Anyone preaching forgiveness for Gowon is not a leader. There is no sentiment here. Let people not bully you with emotional blackmail. No one should forgive someone that took the lives of millions. You even have the right to deny him forgiveness even if he asked for it, not to talk of a man who brags instead of seeking forgiveness.

Peter Obi is not the man. People with his mindset are a d@nger to his people.
