The first lady of Edo State, Betsy Obaseki has responded to the unsavoury remark by senator Adams Oshiomhole who described her as barren and incapable of loving children.
Betsy Obaseki responding to former governor Adams Oshiomhole’s remark during a zoom meeting with childless women of Edo State in diaspora, stated that she is yet to have children due to several miscarriages, stillbirth, and evacuation of dead fetuses in her womb.
Comforting the childless women in the virtual meeting, Betsy Obaseki enjoined them not to be aggrieved over their inability to have their own children who would be evidence of the pain they had been through.
She encouraged them to be optimistic and positive as they would have their children at the time appointed by God.
“My words of comfort to you, like myself, who have conceived and experienced miscarriages, painful stillbirths, and evacuations of babies, who died in our wombs and as a result, have no children to show for the pain we have endured”, she said
The wife of the Edo State governor further stated that her responsibility to the society exceeds being just a mother to children. According to her, women can fulfill God’s purpose for them aside bearing children.
Speaking in the event, the wife of the PDP governorship candidate in Edo, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo vowed to continue the various initiative that Betsy Obaseki has initiated should her husband be elected the governor of Edo State.
