Amid the rising ethnic bigotry against the Ndi Igbo of the southeast of the Nigeria’s federation, netizens have dug up a video in which the current Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu while he served as the governor of Lagos in 1999, vehemently warned Ndi Igbo and other ethnic groups living in Lagos.
As captured in the video clip making the rounds on social media, the then governor of Lagos, Bola Ahmed Tinubu warned Ndi Igbo and other ethnic groups living in Lagos to desist from breaking the laws. He enjoined them to either abide by the laws of Lagos State or go back to their regions.
In a similar clip, the wife of the president, Remi Tinubu had also in an age long video, incited the Yorubas against the Igbos. Remi Tinubu was captured telling some Yorubas that the Ndi Igbo will be chased out of Lagos and their properties seized.
While the Igbo ethnicity continue to cry out over alleged mistreatment in the Nigeria union, the majority of the Igbo populace have embraced the call for Igbo secession from Nigeria as veritable and viable end to their more than half a century partnership in the Nigeria’s federation.
Recently there were social media campaign against the Ndi Igbo by some Yorubas who demanded that the Igbos leave Lagos and other south west states. While the state governors have condemned the acts from their citizens against the Ndi Igbo, no arrest and prosecution has been made.
