Nigerian self-acclaimed social critic and activist, VeryDarkMan, has released evidence implicating renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo in her ongoing legal case with former record label executive, EeZee Tee.

This disclosure has added a new level of complexity to an already tangled dispute involving allegations of fraud, contract breaches, and professional misconduct.

Recall that the conflict between Mercy Chinwo and EeZee Tee goes back to their professional relationship under the EeZee Conceptz record label. Chinwo, who signed with the label in 2017, rose to prominence with hits like “Excess Love” and “Chinedum.” However, upon the expiration of her contract in 2022, tensions escalated over financial disagreements and contractual obligations.

Also, it was reported that in January 2025, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested EeZee Tee over allegations of diverting $345,000. He claimed that during his detention, he was coerced into transferring $274,000 to Chinwo to secure his release. EeZee Tee also accused Chinwo of withholding royalties and failing to fulfill her contractual commitment to produce additional music under the label. Chinwo, in response, denied these allegations, asserting that her legal actions were aimed at seeking transparency and addressing grievances related to contract alterations and a hostile work environment.

In a video posted by VeryDarkMan on Instagram, On February 24, 2025, he dropped some information that he regards as evidence that he claims implicates Mercy Chinwo.

He alleged that both the prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo, and the judge, Michael Nzekwe, have some close relationship with Chinwo, and it potentially compromises the impartiality in relation to the case.

VeryDarkMan also asserted that Oyedepo had been previously sanctioned by the Nigerian Bar Association for alleged human rights violations and further pointed out that Judge Nzekwe follows Chinwo on Instagram.

He said “This case should be given to a neutral person, a Muslim judge that may not know Mercy Chinwo, doesn’t listen to gospel songs and doesn’t know Eezee concept”,
