Popular Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade has lamented over what she described as victimization by Cool FM for over one year.
The singer through her X handle revealed that Cool FM for more than one year, took down her music catalog from their station because she could not attend an event organized by the station a year ago.
She explained further that her absence at the event was not deliberate and that she did try to reach out to the owner and CEO of Cool FM, Serge Noujaim to apologize over her absence at the event but he denies her audience including ignoring her text messages.
She thereafter expressed optimism over her survival whether or not the radio station continues to sideline her and her music.
“Take down my whole catalog from your stations @CoolFMNigeria and @cloutafrica …. God go still give me food. You’re beefing an artist for 1 full year, over your event. I didn’t go, too. I apologized and even called your oga him dey form oga no even reply my text”.
Here are a few reactions to her lamentation over Cool FM:
@JudithofLagos wrote: “Same thing Grammy is doing to nicki, God pass them”.
@Kayloaded1:”Nigeria radio station heads always playing God. The funny part is most times they don’t even do these stuffs for free. Wonder why they are this vindictive”.
@iOlatunde: ” Yemi, you have a right to your request but I do think that this could be handled differently. Some of your colleagues in the industry could mediate and that would be more fruitful than asking a station with more than 10 million listeners to remove your catalog. Think about it when you are less busy”.
@AdemidunAkintu1: ” For her to come out, I’m sure its already in her throat
Yemi doesn’t chase clout, she’s a workaholic, her work chase the Numbers for her not noise.
Let her put her head up there, they didn’t make her, they cant break her”
