Nigerian singer Oluwadipe Oluwasanmi David, popularly known as Spyro, has recently engaged in a public dispute with music executive Ubi Franklin, bringing to light issues of financial disagreements and professional ethics within the entertainment industry.

The contention began when Spyro accused Franklin of leveraging acclaimed artist Davido’s name to secure his performance at a Ghanaian event for a reduced fee of $5,000. Spyro alleged that despite fulfilling his part of the agreement, Franklin failed to remit the promised payment, offering various excuses instead.

In response, Ubi Franklin refuted Spyro’s claims, asserting that Spyro owed him a 10% commission from a car purchase he facilitated. Franklin explained that he connected Spyro to a car dealer for a transaction worth over ₦100 million, with an understanding that he would receive a 10% commission upon completion. He claimed that while Spyro finalized the car payment in December, the agreed commission remained unpaid.

Amidst the ongoing dispute, Spyro took to Instagram to showcase his new house and car, expressing gratitude for his blessings. He wrote, “Franklin speaking. Sorry I mean, frankly speaking, God has been faithful without taking no 10 percent on his faithfulness,” a statement interpreted as a subtle jab at Franklin’s demand for a commission.

Furthermore, Spyro used his platform to advise young individuals to pursue legal means of livelihood, emphasizing that serving God pays off without the need for illegal activities. He encouraged hard work and faith, stating that God would bless the efforts of those who remain diligent.

The public nature of this dispute has sparked discussions among fans and industry observers regarding professional agreements and ethical conduct. Some have criticized Spyro for not honoring an alleged agreement to pay Franklin a 10% commission, while others have supported Spyro’s stance, highlighting the importance of transparency and integrity in business dealings. Following Spyro’s allegations that Ubi Franklin used Davido’s name to deceive him into performing at an event without proper compensation, several fans voiced their concerns. One user commented, “Ubi has been scamming people for a long time. Especially those people without connections and seeking to promote their career.” Another added, “This Ubi get too many problems!!!”

As the situation develops, both parties continue to share their perspectives online, keeping their followers engaged in the unfolding drama.
