Prominent activist for good governance and convener of bring-back-our-girls, Aisha Yesufu has accused northern Muslims of hypocriticy.
The activist through her Twitter handle, reacted to lack of genuine condemnation of the bizarre development involving more than hundred underage protesters who have been in police custody for over 60 days and were arraigned yesterday. The underage suspects face charges bordering on treason, incitement of violence, and destruction of public facilities during #Endbadgovernanceprotest against president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Report says the underage suspects were arrested in Kano State and have been in police facility since their arrest. The unkempt and malnourished suspects were granted bail by the federal High Court Abuja in the sum of ten millions naira each.
Reacting to the development, Aisha Yesufu blames the Northern Muslims for showing little concern about the development. She accuses the northern Muslims of misplacing their priority. According to her, the northern Muslims are far interested in frivolous things than rising up to defend themselves against illegalities.
In her words: “If it is a musician using mosque or hijab in their video or an actress using niqab in her film or a Muslim actress posting her picture in evening dress, ‘Northern’ twitter handles do not wait for ‘Southern’ handles to tweet. But when it comes for fighting for fundamental rights or against injustice they sit down and even with arrogant sense of entitlement demand for ‘southern’ handles to tweet for them.
“Pathetic citizens who fight for God and leave their fight to God”.
