Former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso has revealed that he visited former president Olusegun Obasanjo in his Abeokuta home.
Kwankwaso alongside with Donald Duke visited former president Olusegun Obasanjo on 14th of December, 2024 amid speculations on his falling out with his political godson, Abba Kabir, the governor of Kano State.
However, in a statement Kwankwaso released to the public through his X handle, he stated that the purpose of his visit to former president Obasanjo was to discuss important national issues affecting Nigeria as well as the 2027 general elections.
He wrote: “I was pleased to be in company of my friend, HE Donald Duke and other associates to pay a courtesy call on President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta.
“Deliberations on significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria defined the conversation.”
Speculations have it that Kwankwaso is strategizing ahead of the 2027 general elections as he considers himself and Donald Duke as viable candidates for the position of president and vice president respectively.
