Prominent Nigerian journalist, David Hundeyin has described the activities of Biafra Liberation Army in the southeast Nigeria as coordinated “foreign intelligence operation”.
The journalist made the disclosure in response to a statement on X regarding the military might of the Biafra Liberation Army and how elusive they have become to the Nigerian armed forces.
“You people will be looking at a foreign intelligence operation staring you in the face and still be holding useless debates and asking stupid questions”, he said.
He further explained his claim about the Biafra Liberation Army being funded by an unnamed foreign powerful organization by citing that the southeast has the least jobless people who ordinarily would perceive joining a militia unattractive if the offer isn’t lucrative. He added also that the leader of the group has remained untouchable despite the general public being full aware of his being responsible for such non-state army.
According to David Hundeyin, the activities of the Biafra Liberation Army is unrelated to restoration of Biafra. He said the purpose of such a non-state army is to destabilize the southeast region for illegal resources extraction by foreign powers who have vested interest in the massive natural resources in the region. David Hundeyin claims that same strategy deployed in the northeast region of Nigeria where illegal mining and exploration are currently ongoing, is what is being replicated in the southeast.
“Who is funding, arming, and training a non-state army in Nigeria’s least jobless region to the extent of buying uniforms and setting up camps? Where does their leader live, and why is he untouchable?
“Most importantly, what resources stand to be extracted cheaply if southeastern Nigeria falls into ungovernable chaos like the northwest, and who is best positioned to benefit?
“The ability to put 2 and 2 together to arrive at a logical conclusion is a basic requirement for being a functioning adult. Apparently, too many of us are mentally 12 years old”.
