“I shouldn’t be called Kemi Olunloyo anymore”, Dr. Kemi tells the public, announces her new name

Veteran investigative Nigerian journalist, Dr. Kemi Olunloyo (formerly) has declared that she ceases to be identified by “Olunloyo”.

The investigative journalist through her X handle, declared that she is now officially known as “Kemi Lawrence”; a name which she is formally identified by in the Canadian name registry.

“My official name is no longer “Olunloyo” I am now officially “Kemi Lawrence” or Dr Kemi Lawrence as listed in the Canadian 🇨🇦name registry”, she wrote.

Dr. Kemi further revealed that her recent change of name is not due to marriage union.

Despite not giving a concrete reason for her abandoning “Olunloyo”, a popular name in the south-west region of  Nigeria especially in the country’s first and second republic; she however; implied in her statement that she has severed ties with the Olunloyos.

“I would appreciate being referred to as Dr. Kemi Lawrence, Kemi Lawrence, #DrKemi or #DKL, no middle name. I am no longer associated with the name Olunloyo or the corresponding family. I am neither married nor live in Canada. If you know you know”
