How Tinubu is using Sunday Igboho against the North by Elochukwu Ohagi

The reason Sunday Adeyemo Igbogho resumed his clamouring for independence of the Yoruba nation from Nigeria is to discreetly inform Northerners of the consequences  of their denying president Tinubu a second tenure in 2027.

That is, if you do not allow Tinubu have his way in 2027, we will ensure the disintegration  of Nigeria and the emergence of the Oduduwa nation.

Recently, Tinubu has shown the North that he can not be swayed by sentiment and erroneous sense of entitlement to be uniquely treated at the expense of other regions of the federation.  Tinubu’s rigidity to the northern power brokers and leaders has been marked down by the northers as a punishable offense in 2027.

The north has a way of holding Nigerian presidents mentally hostage by pointing out their voting power– their ability to determine by their voting strength whether or not a president will be reelected.

However, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu appears not to be wary of this sentiment as he has maintained a straight head; head drifted heaven-ward rather than focused on pleasing the north.  This has inadvertently caused the North great pain and increased hunger due to their traditional reliance on government for succor and preferential treatment. So Tinubu is not here to placate them, he is here to tell them look ooo, Oduduwa is a goal.

The North knows that the Southeast would not backtrack on their sought for restoration  of Biafra; hence, they would rather align with the southwest Yoruba, who are notorious for their chameleonic lifestyle. Hence, president  Tinubu by reintroducing Sunday Igboho into the sphere, is to checkmate the excesses of the northers.

It’s to make them wary of the disintegration  of Nigeria under his presidency especially as they appear the most disadvantaged by the disintegration of Nigeria.  Therefore, it is either you leave us in power for eight years to control the economy of the country across those eight years or we will align with the Biafra seeking Igbos to disintegrate Nigeria.

It’s understandable that the north will accept what they consider a lesser evil– allow Tinubu go for second tenure and then for power to return to the north.

There is no guarantee that the East, who have sacrificed everything for Biafra, will bulge even if you make one of theirs the president. That’s how fanatical they are about Biafra. You can’t say the same about the Yoruba, who relented in their sought for Yoruba  nation immediately Bola Ahmed Tinubu was sworn in as Nigeria’s president  only to resume two years after in a way to psychological blackmail the north and trick into allowing Tinubu a second tenure in 2027.

It’s obvious that Sunday Igboho’s recent petition to the UK prime minister was only a show off  aimed to blackmail the North. They know how the North is afraid of Nigeria’s disintegration but the north do not also know that the Yoruba people are also afraid of Nigeria’s division.

The Southwest Nigeria is the commercial nerve of the nation– they are in charge of Nigeria’s economy by enjoying sea port monopoly. The North do not know that the Southwest needs Nigeria more than Nigeria needs the region but the Southeast secession from Nigeria is an existential threat to the Nigerian nation.
