The governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara has nominated an Abia state indigene, Dr. Sam Anya for commissioner in Rivers State.

Dr. Sam Anya who before he was nominated for commissioner, served as the leader of the non-indigenes in Rivers State had also contested for the Ohafia Arochuku Federal Constituency ticket of his political party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He lost in the party’s primary election to Ibe Okwara who also lost in the general elections.

Dr. Sam Anya is also known as “Akaekpuchionwa”, a title he earned for himself for his benevolence in his community.

Dr. Sam Anya nomination for the position of a commissioner in governor Sim Fubara cabinet comes a few weeks after some loyalists of former governor Nyesom Wike who served as commissioners in Fubara’s cabinet, resigned in solidarity to Nyesom Wike whose political feud with Fubara nears a year.

Hence, Dr. Sam Anya emerges one of the latest nominees for some vacant commissioner-positions in Fubara’s cabinet.
