Popular Nigerian actress and producer, Funke Akindele, has stirred a frenzied reaction within her fanbase through a recent social media post where she announced a life-changing opportunity.
The talented filmmaker announced on her Instagram account that she was getting married. This caused her excited fans to troop down to her comment section to wish her well. Even fellow celebrities joined in the excitement as they all rushed down to her comment section, wishing her a happy married life. Some had even begun calling on the others to prepare for the bridal train popularly known as ashoebi.
However, after she had made the post that said, “I am getting married,” the star wrote another post that countered the first with the caption: “APRIL WHAT?…………………F HAPPY NEW MONTH GUYS!!!!!” Her fans didn’t take it personally as they only laughed about it, after all, it was all fools’ day.
Meanwhile, even though she is currently single, the actress is no stranger to marriage. Funke Akindele has experienced marriage twice in her life.
Her first marriage was in 2012 to one Adeola Kehinde Oloyede, a well-known businessman who was based in Oshodi. The union, according to reports, was saturated by allegations of infidelity and abuse, which finally led to the couple’s separation. The second marriage was in 2016 to Abdulrahseed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz. The union, which was a social media sensation, produced twin boys, but was dissolved in 2020.
However, the actress, on the other hand, has openly discussed the lessons she learned in her previous marriages. Recall that during an interview in 2023, the actress used herself as an example, explaining to young ladies the importance of not succumbing to societal pressure. The star revealed that she married soon after succumbing to societal pressures.
The separation caused her some setbacks. However, in the face of it all, the Jennifer’s Dairy crooner maintained a positive attitude towards life. In that interview, the actress said, “The only reason why I will share this with you is to encourage young ladies out there that are in a hurry to get married, that are pressured to get married. Calm down, take your time, If you rush in, you will rush out.”
