Controversial politician and ex-director general of Peter Obi presidential campaign council, Doyin Okupe has stated that Atiku Abubakar will not win the 2027 presidential election at Tinubu’s expense.
Doyin Okupe in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), explained that Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential bid failed due to geographical factor.
According to him, Nigerians were uncomfortable with a northern Muslim succeeding president Buhari in 2023. He said such a factor will also come into play in 2027 while president Tinubu seeks reelection. Okupe insinuated that president Tinubu will be reelected to complete the tenure of the southern Nigeria in the usual south and north rotational presidency.
Speaking on Peter Obi’s presidential ambition in 2027, Okupe said it is near impossible for Peter Obi to defeat president Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He said Peter Obi lacks the political muscle to defeat president Bola Ahmed.
Okupe was also asked about the possibility of the opposition parties uniting ahead of the 2027 general election similar to how the APC emerged before the 2015 general election.
In his response, Okupe said the opposition parties will unlikely compromise and unite to form a strong front in 2027. He said Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso will unlikely sacrifice their personal ambition to form a strong front to challenge president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
