Veteran investigative Nigerian journalist, Olukemi Olunloyo has advised president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider stepping down as a way to stop Nigeria’s continual economic slip.

Dr. Kemi Olunloyo made the call through her X handle following her return to social media after a few months of absence. She accused the current Nigeria’s leadership administration of nepotism– of hiring non-expert to head  government agencies.

In a surprising twist of stance, Kemi Olunloyo who had vigorously campaigned for and supported president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, blamed the Nigeria’s economic woes on him and further accuses him of ineptitude. She further enjoined the president to step down necessary for a new presidential election to be conducted.

On the planned national protest by Nigeria youths which is slated for August 1st, 2024, amid the resistance from the Tinubu’s administration and efforts to frustrate the protest, Dr. Kemi noted that the president should dissolve his cabinet and disengage his advisers.

“My Statement on the 🇳🇬Protests: President Tinubu should reshuffle his cabinet IMMEDIATELY, FIRE all Special Advisors and hire experts that can run Nigeria with him. WE ARE HERE and you want us to come home. I came home 3 times but all you are doing is a hiring and running a padi padi government that has ruined the economy in a year. The $ shouldn’t be N1602. All our Naira savings at home is drained and GONE! The other alternative is for Tinubu to step down and new elections are done. Nigeria is not a democracy anymore. Nigeria 🇳🇬 is EXPLODING 💣 ” she wrote
