Chelsea star, Cole Palmer speaks on ongoing hunger, #EndBadGovernance protest in Nigeria

England football superstar and Chelsea FC prodigy, Cole Palmer has thrown his weight behind ongoing protest against bad governance in Nigeria.

The English star through his X handle, declared his support for the ongoing protest to end bad governance in Nigeria: “In support of our Nigerian brothers and sisters.
#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria”, he wrote.

His tweet is adjudged to have brought the happenings in Nigeria to global limelight as Nigerians took to the street to protest against increasing economic hardship and an end to the perpetual looting of the nation’s treasury by the corrupt in leadership.

On August 1st, 2024, the most populous black nation in the world witnessed a strategic protest against the questionable economic policies of the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. An administration which is barely fifteen month old but whose economic policies from its inception is vastly regarded anti-people.

At his inauguration on May 29th, 2023, following a controversial presidential victory, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his inaugural speech, announced an immediate end to age long pms subsidy known as fuel subsidy. He is accused of following sheepishly the counsels of the International Monetary Funds (IMF) at the expense of the welfare of the Nigeria citizens.
