In a surprising development a few days ago,  president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his long anticipated cabinet reshuffle, the name of the widow of Biafra warlord, Bianca Ojukwu appeared alongside with seven other ministerial nominees.

She is to serve as the minister of state for foreign affairs.

While her nomination into president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet elicited varying degrees of contrasting opinions, the Reliant News has learnt from Bianca Ojukwu’s close ally who does not want his name mentioned, that she is still undecided on whether to accept the ministerial appointment or not.

The source who is close to Bianca Ojukwu revealed that she fancies the nomination but also sees it as a sweet poison due to the suspicious roles and responsibilities she is expected by the presidency to fulfill. These responsibilities she consider contradictory to what she stood for and has been globally known for.

“Bianca knows that the appointment is a sweet poison served in a golden plate. She is in dilemma because she sincerely craves to return to public service especially in government. However, the undeclared terms attached to her ministerial appointment is what she is wary of and wouldn’t want to destroy by herself what she had for several years fought for”.

The source added that there is pressure from the political class in Igbo land on her for her to accept the nomination.

” Yes, prominent politicians including state governors are pressuring her to accept the nomination. But if she accepts it as it’s likely, it will be a big mistake in her reputation in Igbo land because president Bola Ahmed Tinubu plans to use her against the Igbos”.

It is being insinuated that Bianca Ojukwu has been recruited into president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet as a strategic move to tame the activities of Finland-based Biafra nation activist, Simon Ekpa whose militia has been a source of menace to the Nigeria armed forces in the southeast region of the federation in his quest to restore the defunct Biafra nation as well as to demand the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from the custody of the Nigeria’s secret police.

Also, speculation has it that Bianca Ojukwu while serving as minister of state for foreign affairs, would carryout across the border smear campaign against Simon Ekpa so as to convince international community as well as Ekpa’s host nation about his alleged criminal activities in Nigeria; in that way, facilitate his extradition.

Bianca Ojukwu would carry out this smear campaign against Simon Ekpa and his call for the restoration of Biafra first as one who is committed to the Nigerian state at the expense of the defunct Biafra nation.

Furthermore, Bianca Ojukwu would also lead a local and foreign delegates to Nnamdi Kanu in a bid to persuade him to forgo his quest for Biafra restoration in exchange for his freedom.

People have also suggested that Bianca Ojukwu’s appointment has some political undertone as she is expected to undermine Peter Obi’s political influence and acceptance in Anambra state and across Igbo land.
